In my coercively controlled relationship, I was the 'clever one' (I have two degrees - he has none) and he resented that - so ridiculed me at any opportunity and told me not to express my opinion unless I had checked it with him first

I would like to point out that a man/father/perpetrator can at any time and more successful use these stereotypes to victimize himself and accuse the victim of doing it (darvo). As we live in patriarchy victims are not just more prone to fall victims to societal biases, they are also more easily and successfully accused of perpetrating it by men. There is already a trend popping up where men claim to have fallen vitctim to coercive control perpetrated by a woman. Since this is in general a less physical form of a abuse, sooner or later women will be accused of perpetrating it and society will gobble it up like honey. We need to work out the specific differences of it being a gendered crime. The hows and whys and prepare for the backlash. I have been accused of causing the perpetrator stress and pain, even though he is the one that kicked in my door and i am the one with ptsd.
